Floating in Cusco is a truly unique experience, offering powerful relaxation for both body and mind—right in the heart of the Andes. Whether you’re dealing with jet lag, altitude sickness, or simply want to recover tired legs after day trips or treks, a session in the world’s highest float tank can leave you feeling restored and rebalanced.
We understand that many visitors to Cusco may not be familiar with floatation therapy, so this guide is here to explain how it works, what to expect, and the many benefits it can offer.
💧
What Is a Float Tank?
Our float tanks are specially designed pods filled with:
Half a tonne (500 kg) of Epsom salt
25 cm of skin-temperature water
This creates a dense solution that allows your body to float completely effortlessly. The water and air are both kept at body temperature, which creates a sensation of weightlessness—as though your body is suspended in space.
You can float in total darkness and silence, or choose to have soft ambient music and fiber optic starlight if preferred. The experience is yours to control.
🧠
What Happens to the Body During a Float?
Inside the pod, with no external sensory input, your:
Musculoskeletal system unwinds
Sympathetic nervous system powers down (your “fight or flight” response)
Brain enters a meditative, theta-dominant state
The result is a deep sense of mental stillness and physical relief, helping your body recover and reset.

How a Float Session Works
You can book 60-, 90-, or 120-minute sessions. Here’s what to expect:
Arrival & Orientation – We’ll give you a short introduction, answer your questions, and walk you through the process.
Pre-Float Shower – Cleanse with our natural, organic products.
Your Float – Relax inside the float pod with optional music and lights.
End of Session – Gentle music will play to help bring you back.
Post-Float Shower & Refreshments – Rinse off and enjoy a fresh, citrus drink in our reception lounge.
You’ll leave with a deep sense of calm, clarity, and lightness—a feeling that often lasts well beyond the session itself.
🌌
Sensory Deprivation: What You Don’t Experience
Originally called “sensory deprivation tanks,” float pods are designed to remove stimulation from your senses:
No sight – Turn off the lights for complete darkness. You can switch them back on anytime.
No sound – The pod and room are sound-insulated for near-complete silence.
No gravity – Your body floats without pressure, helping relieve tension and decompress the spine.
No touch – Because the water and air match your body’s temperature, you can’t feel where the water begins or ends.
This profound sensory break is what makes floating so deeply restorative.
